Elmira Man Arrested For Allegedly Firing Off Gun At Home

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - An Elmira Man was arrested after allegedly firing off a gun at his home.
On May 19th, at around 11:30 PM, Elmira Police responded to the 500 block of Lyon Street for a report of a gun being fired. Police say that 56 year old John Sever was showing off various weapons to his guest and allegedly fired a gun out an upstairs bedroom window.
During a search of Sever's home, Police located six long guns. Two crossbows and hundreds of rounds of bullets were also found.
Sever was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. This adds to his 11 times being arrested before by Elmira Police within the last year.
Some of those arrests included threats of violence with firearms.
