PAINTED POST, NY (WENY) -- The newest KFC in the area, and one of the most unique in the country cut the ribbon Thursday afternoon.

Dubbed the "Crystal Bucket," the building was previously the Chemung Canal Trust Company branch at 243 North Franklin Street in Painted Post. The building features floor to ceiling glass windows, and a cathedral ceiling. Playing off the former bank theme, the location has a "vault door" inside, housing the Colonel's original recipe of 11 herbs and spices blend.

"We got a call from a really excited real estate director one day, and said 'You guys aren't gonna believe this, we've found an opportunity to convert a bank that looks exactly like a bucket. And so we put our architecture and engineering partnerships to work on creating an asset that we felt was unique and could become pretty iconic opportunity for us," explained KBP Brands President & CEO, Mike Kulp.

The restaurant plans to employ about 50 people, and officially opens on Tuesday, May 3rd at 10:30AM. The first 50 customers will get a gift card for free chicken for a year, valid for 52 meals.
