Arrest Made in Ithaca Homicide from July 2021

ITHACA, NY (WENY) -- Ithaca police arrested a man in connection to a homicide that happened in the city almost eight months ago.
The Ithaca Police Department announced the arrest of 40-year-old William Marshall for the murder of Alan Godfrey on July 20, 2021. Marshall is charged with second degree Murder, second degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and third degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
Marshall was arraigned, and sent to a detention facility without bail following an indictment by a grand jury.
Godfrey, 32, was found shot to death on the 200 block of Taughannock Boulevard in Ithaca, during the overnight hours. Police say the shooting was not random.
Ithaca Police, the New York State Police Major Crimes Unit, Tompkins County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division, and Tompkins County District Attorney's Office all investigated the homicide, collected evidence and information that was presented to the grand jury for indictment.
