WATKINS GLEN, NY (WENY) -- After a two-year hiatus, the Cardboard Boat Regatta and Watkins Glen Waterfront festival returns this June.

Watkins Glen Promotions made the announcement on Thursday. The festival will happen at Seneca Harbor Park on Saturday, June 18th. It features a midway of food, beverage and merchandise vendors opening at 11AM, and the Cardboard Boat Regatta kicking off at 2PM.

“We are thrilled to be back in action to kick off Father’s Day weekend with this wonderful event. The Committee has arranged for the popular band, ‘Rust’ to play at the Festival from 5pm-8pm, so everyone can celebrate the results of the Regatta!" said Stacy Husted, President of Watkins Glen Promotions.

The boats that participate in the regatta must be made using only recycled cardboard, duct tape, glue and paint. Up to 50 boats will compete, winning prices for categories including "Fastest Time," "Best Construction," and "Best Sinking."

Regatta applicants can sign up by emailing events@watkinsglen.com or by calling 607-535-3003. The deadline for entries is June 13th.
