Eric Smith Released from Prison
12:10PM UPDATE: WENY News has learned Smith has been released to parole supervision in Queens County, NY.
WOODBOURNE, NY (WENY) -- Convicted murderer Eric Smith was released from prison Tuesday, according to the New York State Department of Corrections.
DOCCS inmate information shows Smith was released from Woodbourne Correctional Facility on February 1st. He was granted parole in October 2021, after he was sentenced in 1994 to nine years to life for the August 1993 murder of four-year-old Derrick Robie. Smith was 13 years old at the time; he is now 41.
Smith told the parole board in his interview that he intended to live with his mother in Savona, unless he can find his own housing with his fiance. It's unknown what his home plan is at this time.
