UPDATE: CFD Chief confirms fatality in Sat. house fire

1/18 UPDATE 10:00 A.M. (WENY) -- Corning Fire Department Chief Brad Davies confirms to WENY News there was a single fatality in Saturday's house fire at 80 Norman Street.
Chief Davies says the call first came in around 1:36 p.m. for a building fire with one occupant unaccounted for. No one else was inside the home at the time of the fire. No details will be released about the person who died, pending a positive ID after an autopsy is completed.
The home reportedly suffered significant damage on the first and second floors, including an attic space.
No other kind of injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

CORNING, N.Y. (WENY)- Fire crews responded to a house fire on Norman Street and Baker in Corning this afternoon around 2 pm.
The Corning Fire Department was on the scene putting out the fire.
The home was billowing with smoke. Our videographer at the scene tells us there was also an ambulance on the scene but it is not confirmed if anyone was in the home or injured.
We have reached out to fire officials for more information however we have not received additional details and they have not confirmed how the fire started.
