Hilfiger Family Announces Fashion Business School Scholarship at Elmira College
ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- Fashion designer and Elmira native Tommy Hilfiger, along with his siblings Betsy and Andy, have announced a scholarship for students attending the Elmira College Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Business School.
"My family and I are excited to offer this scholarship to Elmira College students and, in particular, to facilitate the internship portion of the program," said Tommy Hilfiger. "Our goal is to build a pipeline of talent, and that requires hands-on experiences where students can apply their knowledge and network with industry professionals."
Students in the program can apply for a $5,000 scholarship after completing their second year in the program, according to information released by Elmira College. The money will be used towards internship needs, or accommodations necessary for an internship in Fashion Marketing or Fashion Merchandising during the student's final year in the program. The scholarship funds will be added to any existing scholarship up to total tuition costs.
Eligible students must have a 3.5 grade point overage, demonstrate a strong desire to succeed in a diverse and inclusive industry, and exhibit leadership qualities.
"We are extremely thankful to the Hilfiger family for their continued partnership, from establishing the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Business School and the Tommy Hilfiger Gallery to creating this scholarship," said Charles Lindsay, president, Elmira College. "This program is a wonderful example of how we bring together liberal arts and professional programs to broaden the view our students have of the world."
"At Elmira College, we pride ourselves on providing experiential learning and this scholarship will help open doors for students who want an internship within the fashion industry," said Dr. Alison Wolfe, business and economics chair and director of the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Business School, Elmira College.
