CORNING, N.Y. (WENY)- On December 3, 2021, at about 8:50 PM, Steuben County 911 dispatched members of the Corning Police Department to the area of East 3rd Street and Steuben Streets in the City of Corning for a report of a male yelling, screaming, and threatening to harm himself with a gun.

Police located a 45-year-old man in an apartment in that area but say the male was not communicating with officers.

Close to 12:30 AM on Saturday, December 4th, the Corning Police Department received assistance for this situation from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.

The male was transported and turned over to an area hospital for an evaluation.

The City of Corning police department says this matter remains under criminal investigation.

The Department acknowledges and appreciates the assistance in this matter from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.
