Binghamton Rumble Ponies announce new team owner, 23-year lease extension at Mirabito Stadium
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WENY) - Baseball in Binghamton is set to be around for another 20-plus years as Binghamton Mayor, Richard C. David, and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies announced a 23-year lease extension at Mirabito Stadium through 2045.

Additionally, the team has a new Owner as David Sobotka of New York-based Southpaw Resources LLC. will assume ownership from John Hughes of Evans Street Baseball effective immediately.

A press release from the Rumble Ponies says as part of the agreement, $3.1 million has been allocated to bring the facility into compliance with MLB's new facility standards. The Rumble Ponies have played in Binghamton as the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets since 1992. Binghamton is scheduled to open the 2022 season at home on Tuesday, April 12th when they host the Bowie Baysox.
