Southern Tier Running Club holds family Halloween Scavenger Hunt
ELMIRA, NY (WENY) - The Southern Tier Running Club held the second annual Halloween Scavenger Hunt Sunday afternoon.
From noon until 2 p.m., families were invited to look for pieces of candy around Sperr Memorial Park. Kids dressed up in Halloween costumes were awarded additional prizes.
President of The Southern Tier Running Club Colby Westervelt felt today’s event was an opportunity for kids to celebrate while being active outdoors. She says holiday events like this help carry out STRC’s mission.
“The Southern Tier Running Club focuses on giving back to the community,” Westervelt said. “Events like this, where we can give back, especially with the times in the last year and a half with COVID, we really enjoy doing things to get people to come out and be active.”
The Southern Tier Running Club plans to host the Red Barron Half Marathon next Sunday at Corning Community College. For more information on STRC’s schedule of events, visit their website here.
