ITHACA, NY (WENY) - The Community Partnership of Tompkins County hosted the 23rd Annual Greater Ithaca Art Trail.

Starting October 7th, over 30 local artists opened their doors to the public. The event provided live and virtual activities for Ithacans to enjoy. Workshops were held Thursdays and Fridays on creativity, bookmaking, and social media practices. Creators invited community members into their studios over the weekends to browse their work. The slate of events concluded on October 17th.

Many of the artists were thrilled to have the trial return to Ithaca. Ceramic artist Kari Zelson Robertson touched on engaging conversations the event creates.

“It’s really interesting to get reactions to my work,” Zelson Robertson said. “It’s interesting to talk to them... about... maybe work that they’re doing or the creative process in general.”

She continued by explaining how members of the community have found a passion in ceramics through working with her.

“I’ve had quite a few people that come to my studio who are students,” Zelson Robertson said. “They are going to do their own work so that’s kind of cool.”

She expressed how the Greater Art Trail showcases the diversity in art throughout Ithaca.

“We have quite the density of artists in this area; it's really strong, culturally,” Zelson Robertson said. “It's amazing how many different people there are here.”

For 27 years, The Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County acts as one of the driving forces behind the vibrant and connected arts community of Ithaca and the neighboring towns and villages.
