Suspects in Elmira torture and murder case transferred to Chemung Co. Jail
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Two of the four men accused of kidnapping and torturing a man who was left to die in a Pennsylvania field, are now behind bars in the Chemung County Jail.
According to jail records, 25-year-old Eddie Marte and 18-year-old Malik Weems were were transferred from the Ontario County Jail. Marte and Weems were jailed in Ontario County for a separate kidnapping and torture case in Geneva, New York.
Marte was transferred to the Chemung County Jail on October 15th, Weems was transferred on October 7th.
Marte and Weems are accused of helping two other people torture and kill 38-year-old Juan Jose Gotay from New York City. The other suspects were identified as 25-year-old Thomas Bovaird of Horseheads, and an unidentified teen from Georgia.
Bovaird is currently behind bars at the Chemung County Jail.
