PENN YAN, NY (WENY) -- This week in wine country, sponsored by Finger Lakes Wine Country, we're visiting Laurentide Beer Company.

The micro and farm brewery opened in 2020, and is located in a renovated historic carriage house in downtown Penn Yan. The owners, Marla and Tracey Hedworth, also operate the Laurentide Inn, located on the same property. 

The name Laurentide harkens back to the Laurentide Ice Sheet, a massive sheet of ice that covered most of Canada and the Northern United States millions of years ago. The ice sheet and glacial movement carved out the Finger Lakes as we now know them. 

In addition to their craft beers on tap brewed by Head Brewer Brett Driscoll and his wife Jackie, Laurentide Beer Company also offers wine, spirits and ciders crafted by other Finger Lakes beverage producers. 

The brewery is open seven days a week, and also hosts live music several nights each week. On Saturday, October 16th, they'll feature live music by Steve Maclean, and special guest Steve Watson, in a tribute performance to the late Tom Petty from 5 - 8PM.
