ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY)- A new business in Elmira is generating some interest and some smoke. The business sells stickers but as a gift you get weed. It's a national trend that has made its way here to Elmira.

Under New York State law, gifting cannabis is 100 percent legal. That's because B Millz's business on 1128 Lake Street in Elmira is not selling marijuana, it's giving it as a gift with a purchase of stickers.

"Like if you get a 3.5 sticker then you get 3.5 and a gift which is a gift of an eighth of marijuana, Bartholomew Miller Owner of B Millz said."

He says he just opened up his doors last week and business is booming! This is not Miller's first or second shop, it's his third!

"It's growing so fast that it can not be denied to be one of the fastest-growing industries and we are at the lead of it here in New York State, here in this area in the valley, Miller said.

Miller says his business is simply a gift business. He gives cannabis as a thank you for shopping at his store.

Recreational marijuana in the state is legal to consume and give and you can buy it from a dispensary but that program has not been set up yet.

"So what we do here is we have a selection of stickers and art products and such and then we gift THC products in thanks for visiting B Millz," he said.

Stickers for Sativa and the starting sticker price for a sticker ranges from $10 - $220.

"We have a 3.5 sticker, we have a 7.0 sticker, a 14.0 a 28.0 sticker as well as a concentrate sticker a 1.0 sticker, and a C class sticker which is our card-free gift sticker. Stickers cost different prices for different ones. I'll give you a reference our 3.5 is $30 and our 7.0 is $60 and then thus far, then the gift that you receive is based upon the sticker that you purchase," Miller said.

Miller says he is able to give the gift of marijuana because they operate within a loophole in the state cannabis law.

"We try to operate within the gray area that's been given to us by New York state by allowing these rules and not putting in place these guidelines. Right now we are just running with what we are allowed to do, we are allowed to gift marijuana we are allowed to be 21 years of age and have 3 ounces on a person, I'm allowed to do certain things under the new guidelines and B Millz for lack of a better word exploits that," Miller said.

Local law enforcement officials confirmed, there is a loophole in the state marijuana law so it is legal for Miller to gift cannabis to his customers.

Miller is a hometown boy from the Valley and says he has plans to grow his businesses.
