According to the New York State Police blotter, a 17-year-old male was arrested in Georgia in connection to the case; his name was not released.
He was charged with three counts of assault with intent to cause serious injury with a weapon, one count of assault with intent to cause disfigurement or dismemberment, one count of intentional murder and one count of kidnapping that resulted in the victim’s death.
Three other individuals have previously been charged in connection to Gotay’s murder. They are 25-year-old Eddie Marte from New York City, 18-year-old Malik Weems of Pittsburgh and 21-year-old Thomas Bovaird of Horseheads.
As WENY News reported, the men allegedly abducted Gotay, bound him with an electric cord after mutilating and dismembering him and left him to die in a “remote area in Pennsylvania”. The incident happened someone on the 29th or 30th of January, 2021.
Details of the case first came to light in May, when police confirmed they were conducting a criminal investigation at two homes in Elmira; one on West Avenue and the other on Partridge Street. The Chemung County District Attorney’s office confirmed to WENY News that investigation was connected to Gotay’s murder.
