ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – An Elmira man has been charged in connection with a murder that happened in the city in 2020.

As WENY News reported, on September 14, 2020, police responded to a home in the 600 block of Taylor Street for reports of a gunshot victim. EMS attempted life-saving measures, but the victim died at the scene; he was later identified as 29-year-old Ramonn Driscoll.

Following a “lengthy and thorough investigation”, evidence and testimony was presented to the Chemung County Grand Jury; the suspect in the murder was identified as 31-year-old Eugene Cade and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Monday, September 20, Cade was arraigned on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree burglary. Police say Cade was already serving a 15-year sentence for other crimes.

As WENY News reported, in October 2020, Cade was previously arrested and charged in connection to a June 2020 home invasion and robbery in Elmira.
