Harvest Festival returns to Corning in-person
CORNING, NY (WENY) - Corning’s Gaffer District held its annual Harvest Fest starting this Friday. This was the first time the event was held in-person since the COVID pandemic started.
From September 17th to 19th, people are invited to Market Street to enjoy local music, food, and activities offered from the Corning community free of charge.
Executive Director of Corning’s Gaffer District, Coleen Fabrizi, is over the moon to put on the event in-person after last year. She expressed the excitement she felt watching her community flood Market Street once again.
“We did everything that we could while we were in lockdown mode to still have people here and enjoying this downtown, albeit virtual,” Fabrizi said. “But now, to see people in-person and watch the joy unfold on their faces, these smiles are just invaluable. We couldn’t be happier. It’s great to be here.”
She continued by explaining why people across the Twin Tiers should join in on the Harvest festivities.
“There are just so many different things you can do.” Fabrizi said. “Saturday, we are going to have a number of great activities for children, and there’s no charge for it. It’s a wonderful way to entertain the kids and then go grab a great lunch or ice cream, always ice cream.”
Fabrizi highlighted the food vendors as a major incentive to come down to the Gaffer District.
“We’re a Bon Appetit dining destination,” Fabrizi said. “There’s no other time like this to come, sit outside or inside, and enjoy everything from barbecue, to Asian cuisine, steak, you name it, it's here and it’s delicious.”
