ELMIRA, NY (WENY) - Kennedy Valve and WENY-TV have awarded five students the Trade and Technical School Scholarship for the upcoming academic year. Both organizations teamed up in providing local students a 500-hundred-dollar grant towards the institution of their choice.

Kennedy Valve has been outstanding amongst the bunch in the trade and technical industry. Dating back to 1907, the company moved into a larger faculty in Elmira. Since then, the company has accomplished some major feats such as manufacturing 8 million valves for the Victory Fleet in 1940.

Assistant General Manager Nate Pizzini continues to hold the company to the same standards. He expressed excitement over continued local interest in the trade industry.

“We actually had a really good turnout. We had thirteen applicants across eight schools in the Northern Tier, PA and the southern tier of New York.” Pizzini said. “There’s been a lot of opportunities for the students to take advantage of the scholarship program and get some support so they can advance their careers in the field that they choose to.”

Pizzini continued to explain the significance of this scholarship and how this opportunity was one of the few in the area.

“The difference is not every school district has the ability to provide their students with a scholarship for technical schools,” Pizzini said. “This is probably the best opportunity for them and that they’ve received.”

Kennedy Valve has awarded the students school of choice the 500-dollar grant directly. The five winners hail from the southern New York and Northern Pennsylvania regions.
