Himrod, NY (WENY) -- The Yates County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the people involved in a deadly boat crash near Himrod.

Deputies were dispatched to an area near the Showboat Motel on Seneca Lake just before 5:30 PM for multiple people hurt in the water.

Through their investigation deputies determined that a high-performance speed boat known as a Donzi was traveling south on the lake at a high rate of speed. That’s when the boat abruptly turned causing it to rollover,  throwing all six passengers from the boat into the water, which included the driver of the boat, 48-year-old, Michael Battley.

Deputies say that several people onshore swam out to try and rescue the people in the water.

Deputies as that the injuries to the subjects range: Battley was not injured, Deloss Stuck, sustained internal injuries and was transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital, Jessica Stine, also sustained internal injuries and was transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital, David Knorr sustained internal injuries and was transported by Medivac to Strong Memorial Hospital, Alyssa Knorr, sustained internal injuries and was transported by Medivac to Strong Memorial Hospital. Cynthia Stuck was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into exactly what happened is still underway. Deputies say that marine patrol has impounded the vessel and are working on accident reconstruction.
