Elderly Trumansburg woman & her dog killed in Tompkins Co. accident
ULYSSES, N.Y. (WENY) -- An elderly woman from Trumansburg and her dog sadly died in a two-car crash in the Town of Ulysses Monday night.
The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the crash at the intersection of Jacksonville Road and Agard Road a little after 6:00 p.m. on July 5th.
An initial investigation determined a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Jacksonville Road when a 2004 Volkswagen, which had been traveling west on Agard Road, failed to stop at the stop sign, colliding into the Chevrolet Silverado.
The driver of the Volkswagen, 86-year-old Joyce H. Oltz of Trumansburg, was pronounced dead at the scene, along with her dog, who was also in the car.
Police say the occupants of the Chevrolet Silverado suffered minor injuries.
The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and Trumansburg Fire and Ambulance assisted at the scene.
