CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Its been more than a year since the Lowe Family from Horseheads lost their teenage son, Billy unexpectedly. Since then, the Lowe family created a foundation that aims to help the lives of others, in memory of their son.

"We wanted to make our worse day, someone else's best day. Billy was our hero and he's been many peoples heroes as a result," says Eddy Lowe, father of Billy Lowe.

Billy Lowe was only 15-years-old when he unexpectedly passed away in May of 2020, following an unexpected cardiac incident. Billy's passing allowed his family to continue his legacy through organ donation.

"The fund that we created within the community foundation is the Forever2Six Fund and that was established to again, continue Billy's legacy in raising organ donation awareness, as well as we have created two academic scholarships," says Eddy Lowe.

In honor of Billy, Liquid Shoes Brewing on Market Street in the city of Corning created a brew last year, called FOREVER 6.

"We thought it would be a great idea to do a beer in his memory and his honor, and to help them with their foundation Forever2Six," says David Shoemaker, co-owner of Liquid Shoes Brewing.

Liquid Shoes will again release FOREVER 6 on Billy's birthday starting with family only. FOREVER 6 will then be released to the public Friday afternoon at 3 pm.

"If we do run out, don't worry because we're doing a second batch of it that will be released in another couple weeks. So people will still be able to get some, probably in a couple weeks if they miss out on the first time around," says Shoemaker.

All proceeds will go directly to the Forever2Six foundation to help raise awareness for organ donation and encourage matches between organ donors and recipients.

Liquid Shoes says last year they raised roughly $3,500 and are hoping to top that this year.

Shoemaker added, "I went to school with Katie Lowe and I met Eddy about 15, 16 years ago. We just felt that it was something we had to do, it was such a tragic loss and we wanted to help them in their new endeavor of creating the Forever2Six Foundation in memory of Billy and kind of their passion in life about bringing awareness to organ donation. We felt it was just a great thing for us to do and to help them at the same time."
