CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) – A local musician has donated his guitar to a nursing home to help them learn how to play.

George Bidderman, also known as George Mann, is a folk music guitarist, songwriter and vocalist who has long performed for residents at the Corning Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Due to the pandemic – George was unable to continue his in-person performances, but the Recreation Department at the Corning Center, headed by Megan Wright, set up a way for George to play for residents virtually.

Now, George has decided to donate his guitar to the residents so they can learn how to play.

“We love having George play to our residents,” said Wright.  “The residents love hearing and singing to those great folk classics like “Blowing in the Wing”, “I’m Leaving on a Jet Play” and “Forever Young” and George just does them perfectly.  We are so thankful for George’s generosity and his passion for what he does. During such a difficult time, he has continued to make a difference in the lives of our residents.  We look forward to the day we can have another live performance!”
