Food purchases no longer required with alcohol at bars and restaurants in New York

(WENY) - People no longer have to buy food with alcoholic beverages at bars and restaurants in New York State. The mandate is set to be lifted Wednesday by the New York State Legislature.
Governor Andrew Cuomo started requiring people to order food when ordering alcohol back in July. On Tuesday, the New York State Legislature voted to lift that requirement.
Many bars and restaurants appeared to not be selling meals and appetizers. Instead, they would sell a snack such as chips for $1.
