Catholic Charities gives out Easter dinners to those in need in Elmira
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – Tuesday, the Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schuyler Counties gave out Easter dinners to families in need.
Two hundred meals were given out at the Samaritan Center in Elmira. The food was provided by Tioga Downs in partnership with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
“We find that people seem to respond really well to this kind of special events,” said Katie Rhodes, Communications Coordinator for Catholic Charities. “They need just a little bit of extra help for the hospitals and are able to come out – we’re outside; they can be socially distanced and get what they need to have a nice Easter dinner.”
Those who received the dinners were also provided with personal care items and other necessities.
