Pa. State Trooper Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Gambling, Prostitution Case

A Pennsylvania state trooper is among four people arrested for alleged involvement in a gambling and prostitution case, Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) officials announced Thursday.
Police say Trooper Robert E. Covington Jr., 48, of Olyphant, Pa., was arrested for illegal activity occurring at Sinners Swing Gentlemen's Club in Mayfield Borough, Lackawanna County.
Covington is a 13-year veteran of PSP and was assigned to the Bureau of Gaming Enforcement at the Pocono Downs Wilkes-Barre Office.
According to PSP officials, Covington has been on restricted duty throughout the investigation and is currently suspended without pay depending on the outcome of the charges against him.
An investigation that began in November 2018 revealed that Covington and his business partner David Klem owned and operated the gentlemen's club. Initial allegations indicated the club was being used to promote illicit activity.
The arrests were made following a 17-month joint investigation by the Pa. State Police and the Pa. Office of Attorney General.
