CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Corning's Centerway Square is being considered as one of the 10 Best Public Squares in a USA Today website contest.
In the heart of Corning's Gaffer District, officials tell WENY News Centerway Square is currently holding the #1 spot.
Voting ends on Monday, February 15th at Noon.
The contest link can be found here: https://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-public-square/
The Gaffer District has made an assortment of changes in the wake of the pandemic in an effort to keep businesses afloat. Some moves include the Facebook group, Shop Corning's Gaffer District Online, creating a digital platform for stores to sell goods.
Additionally, the Winter Wonderland in the Crystal City photo contest, sponsored by Ferrario Auto Group, is providing free retail delivery with participating Corning Gaffer District businesses. Delivery is available within a 30 mile radius (some exclusions).
That delivery service will now be through the end of February.
Corning Gaffer District officials say they hope people looking for Valentine's gifts and treasures will think to shop local and that the delivery services be a solution for those who do not wish to shop in person.
