UPDATE (10/22) Ithaca Police Chief Dennis Nayor confirmed to WENY News the incident is being investigated as a homicide. 

ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) - The Ithaca Police Department blocked off a portion of State Street late Wednesday night. WENY News was on the scene overnight.

Our reporter on scene saw heavy police presence in the area. The street has been blocked off from the South Meadow intersection to the Corn Street intersection.

Officers could be seen congregating around the Maru Ramen and Franco's Pizzeria. That's about halfway between the two intersections. Around half dozen officers are on scene. Ithaca Police are expected to release more information soon.
