CMOG Partners with Steuben County League of Women Voters to Host Voter Registration Day

CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Tuesday, September 22nd is National Voter Registration day, to remind everyone to get out and register before the end of October. In order to promote more people in the local community to register to vote, the Corning Museum of Glass partnered with the League of Women Voters to set up a registration table for one day.
"In a democracy, the only way to be heard is to cast your vote, and elect the officials that most clearly represent your values," says Lorraine Manelis, Head of Voter Registration for the League of Women Voters. "We traditionally have a low turn out in the country, I'm hoping that this election will be different."
WENY News spoke with Ann Campbell, the Marketing and Communications manager with CMOG, who said the museum is happy be able to help in getting the word out about registering to vote.
"It's part of our civil duty to just let every American citizen have their right to vote and here's a nice opportunity for them to visit the museum, get registered to vote, and hopefully see some of our great exhibitions at the same time," says Campbell.
Manelis told WENY News voter registrations needs to be in by October 27th and she hopes to see a strong turnout this year.
"We live in very trying times right now, we are going through a pandemic and we recognize how important it is to have a good, stable government to help us through emergencies like that."
