BATH, N.Y. (WENY) – The Steuben County Public Health Department reported one new case of COVID-19 Friday and health officials say that person was exposed at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Horseheads. Additionally, health officials say more than three dozen cases in six counties have been linked back to the cluster.

“We urge anyone who has visited the Lighthouse Baptist Church to contact us and get tested,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “There are already at least 45 identified cases connected to the church across six counties.  We want to make sure that number doesn’t rise exponentially and impact the communities even more.”

Steuben County currently has eight active cases; as WENY News reported, the cluster reported out of the church has been linked back to cases in Chemung, Schuyler and Steuben Counties. Chemung County now has 22 active cases after a spike was reported following that cluster.

The individual in Steuben County lives in the Town of Caton and also reported visiting the following locations:

·9/8/20 Morning – Dollar General in Caton

·9/9/20 Morning – The Vitamin Shoppe in Horseheads

·9/9/20 Morning – Walgreens in Elmira
