Woman sent to the hospital following crash

Thurston, NY (WENY) -- According to the Bath Volunteer Fire Department, a woman was sent to the hospital following a crash in which a car nearly overturned.
According to a press release, the Thurston Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for a car rollover of County Route 2. Once on scene, crews saw the 4 door sedan standing on its front bumper in a ditch. One occupant managed to get out but another person, a woman, was pinned inside with, what crews are calling “serious” injuries.
The Bath Volunteer Fire Department Rescue team was also called to the scene along with a medical helicopter and the Addison Volunteer Fire Department.
Once the Bath Fire Department arrived on the scene, the Thurston Fire Department and New York State Police managed to get the sedan stabilized. Two Bath firemen were able to get into the car and get the woman disentangled and assess the situation. The “Jaws of Life” was used to cut the B post that pinned the woman. She was able to then be pulled out of the car to await the Corning Ambulance crew and Guthrie Medivac teams.
“Had it moved at all it could have been tragic, and they did a great job,” said John Conrad, the Public Information Officer for the Bath Volunteer Fire Department.
Conrad went on to say that the situation was another great example of neighboring departments working together.
