Dairy farmer organizations donate 4,000 gallons of milk to Broome-Tioga BOCES

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WENY) -- Rising unemployment and school closures are putting added stress on food pantries. That's why two dairy farmer organizations are joining forces to get truckloads of milk to those in need.
American Dairy Association North East and Dairy Farmers of America will deliver more than 4,000 gallons of milk to Broome-Tioga BOCES tomorrow.
"Fortunately, dairy farmers have not experienced a disruption in milk production, and there is no shortage of milk," American Dairy Association North East CEO Rick Naczi said. "Milk is an essential item for nutritional well being and meal preparation, especially for households with children. We're doing everything we can to make sure families have access to milk."
The milk will be dropped off at the Binghamton City School warehouse, and then distributed to 20 grab-and-go sites within the BOCES district.
Pick-up sites in Tioga County can be found in Newark Valley, Owego, and Tioga.
