CCC Extends Remote Classes, Postpones Graduation

CORNING, NY (WENY) - SUNY Corning Community College will continue distance learning, consisting of online-only classes, through the end of the Spring 2020 semester. This includes final exams.
The announcement comes in a letter from Corning Community College President, Dr. William P. Mullaney. SUNY (State University of New York System) indicated distance learning should continue for the rest of the term, with Corning Community College (CCC) following the guideline.
The SUNY Chancellor also recommends graduations should not be planned for May. CCC has decided not to plan for a commencement ceremony on May 16th. Dr. Mullaney says, "We are considering other options and will allow some more time to pass before deciding what seems feasible given the evolving situation. We are very proud of our students’ success and are excited about our new graduating class who will be awarded degrees and certificates in May."
Additionally, CCC will extend spring break, originally set from April 6th to April 11th, through April 14th. The extension was put in place to provide students and faculty with time to prepare for the rest of the semester.
