Gracie is this week's adoptable pet with the Chemung County SPCA
CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) – This week's adoptable pet with the Chemung County SPCA is Gracie. She is 8 years old, which means she qualifies for the Seniors for Seniors program at the shelter. Arynn Brucie with the SPCA says Gracie is a “special needs kitty.” One of her eyes has extra pigmentation. Veterinarians and the shelter want to make sure her future owners are aware of this. There is a chance Gracie will need her eye removed if the pigmentation does not change within the next three months.
Five dogs are coming to the shelter from Mississippi. The dogs will be at the SPCA today. There are two puppies and three adults dogs. The adult dogs will be on a five day health quarantine and the puppies will be on a ten day quarantine.
February is Pet Dental Health Month. Brucie says dental health for pets is “really important.” Brucie says a handful of pets come to the shelter in need of dental care. The shelter has a tooth fairy fund. This is where local dental practices donate to help the SPCA cover the costs of dental care for the pets.
