Elmira Heights Police identify victim who died in Saturday's crash

UPDATE (1/21/20 at 12:22 a.m.) -- Elmira Heights Police Chief Rick Churches has confirmed to WENY News that the driver involved in the crash has died. Churches says 88-year-old Arnold Carbaugh died at the hospital. It is believed he died due to medical reasons prior to the crash and his death is not necessarily related to the crash. Carbaugh was brought to the hospital where doctors tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead.
ELMIRA HEIGHTS, N.Y. (WENY) – Police responded to a report of a car accident this morning on College Avenue in Elmira Heights. The reported crash happened across from the Speedway gas station. The initial scanner came in just after 8:30 this morning.
When WENY arrived on the scene, the road was blocked off and a flare was set up.
