Steuben Co. man arrested for allegedly shooting, killing domestic animal

HOWARD, N.Y. (WENY) – A Steuben County man has been arrested on animal cruelty charges after police say he shot and killed a domestic animal, and then moved its body.
On November 20, county deputies, along with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police, arrested 48-year-old Christopher Bertram of Howard.
Bertram allegedly shot and killed a domestic animal that did not belong to him, and then moved it to another location in the village of Canisteo.
He has been charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, all felonies.
Bertram was arraigned and released to appear in Howard Town Court at a later date.
Police say further charged regarding an alleged killing of a deer may also be filed.
