Chemung County SPCA hosts free rabies clinic next month

CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) – This week's adoptable pet at the Chemung County SPCA in Elmira is Mittens. Mittens is a cat who has been with the shelter since the beginning of September. He is a year and a half old and is neutered. Arynn Brucie, with the SPCA says he was brought to the shelter since he was not getting along with the other cat in the home he previously lived in. Brucie goes onto say although Mittens did not get along with the other cat, he loves to cuddle, be held, and is “very sweet.” Brucie believes he would fit best in a home without other cats, but with owners who would show him love and affection.
Turning to dogs, Brucie says two dogs were recently brought to the Chemung County SPCA from Texas. An organization in Texas called “Three Little Pitties” reached out to this local shelter due to flooding. The organization sent an email to the Chemung County SPCA with a list of dogs that needed a home, which resulted in the Elmira shelter taking in two of those dogs. Brucie says those two animals will be available for adoption later this week.
Lastly, the Chemung County SPCA is hosting another free rabies clinic next month. The clinic will be held on Saturday, October 26th at the Ernie Davis Community Center. That's on East 5th Street in Elmira. The clinic runs from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All dogs, cats and ferrets are welcome.
