Kmart locations in Bath, Towanda closing

(WENY) -- Kmart and Sears have announced which of their store locations will close by the end of the year, and the Twin Tiers will be feeling the effects.
In August, company officials announced that 26 Sears and Kmart locations will close next month.
"Following these steps, we will continue to evaluate our network of Sears and Kmart stores and cannot rule out additional store closures in the near term," the company's August 6 statement said. "Our goal remains to return the company to profitability and preserve as many jobs as possible in the communities we serve."
In the most recent announcement, officials say nearly 100 additional stores are facing a similar fate in December or sooner.
The Kmart in Bath, N.Y. and Towanda, Pa. are among those closing, though the exact closure dates have not been confirmed.
