Corning-Painted Post Area School District appoints new superintendent

PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WENY) -- There will soon be a new superintendent in Corning-Painted Post schools.
Michelle Caulfield, the current Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education, will assume the new position on July 1, 2020.
This comes after nearly a year of searching for a replacement for the current superintendent, Michael Ginalski, who is retiring in June of 2020.
Caulfield has been with the district for 20 years.
Her appointment by the Board of Education was unanimous.
Board President dale Wexell says that Caulfield has had many experiences that most sitting superintendents do not have and is prepared to take the district into the next decade.
"She has participated in every planning session associated with our most challenging issues and initiatives including our first successful facilities plan of nine years ago," he said in a statement from the Board. "The community can be confident of her understanding of how a budget is developed, where the money is, and strategies to control spending."
Caulfield's appointment lasts through June 30, 2023.
