UPDATE 6/10/2019 5:00 P.M.: According to an article by the Rolling Stone, a Woodstock 50 organizer, Gregory Peck, said the festival is in talks with another venue to host the 50th anniversary event on August 16th through the 18th. Tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks when that new venue is announced.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) – In the latest developments surrounding the controversial Woodstock 50 festival, Watkins Glen International has announced it has terminated the site license with the festival's organization.

In a statement, WGI officials said, “Watkins Glen International terminated the site license for Woodstock pursuant to provisions of the contract.  As such, WGI will not be hosting the Woodstock 50 Festival.”

The announcement comes after mass confusion on whether or not the festival would be held in August. As WENY News reported, in April, Woodstock's main investment arm, Dentsu, pulled financial support. At that time, officials with Dentsu said the anniversary festival was canceled, but organizer Michael Lang has long-sense disputed those claims, taking Dentsu to court.

In that case, a judge ruled Dentsu had no right to cancel the festival, but they did not have to return money they had withdrawn. Lang said that money belonged to Woodstock, but Dentsu insisted the funds were rightfully theirs.

Amid this, the New York State Department of Health told WENY News they had not yet issued the mass-gathering permit needed to hold the festival. DoH officials last told WENY News there were outstanding concerns with the application submitted by WGI.

In a statement, officials with the Department of Health tell WENY News, "The Department has received a statement from Watkins Glen International that they intend to rescind their application for a mass gathering permit for Woodstock 50.”
