EC students paint murals throughout pediatric floor at Arnot Ogden

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A group of local college students are doing their part top help brighten the days of child patients at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. About ten students from the Elmira College Art Club painted murals throughout the pediatric floor of the hospital. For 6 weeks, they were able to paint the play room and the hallways. Using different themes like under the sea, the circus, and forests. For the students, it's all about cheering up the children and their families during their hospital visit.
"It's so awesome, we've gotten so many thanks from parents and it's just so nice to see the kids will run in and say, 'Oh, that's a dolphin,' or 'Oh, look at that fish,'" said Elmira College Art Club president, Megan Spirowski. "It makes me really happy to see how happy they are."
According to hospital staff, the new paintings help make the hospital comfortable and more like home for the kids.
