Elmira College hosts Fortnite competition ahead of Esports program
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Officials at Elmira College say they're excited about a brand new Esports program.
The program focuses on competitive video gaming. Ahead of the new program, on Wednesday, the college held a Fortnite competition with the help of the National Esports Association and Microsoft.
"What we're seeing this e-sports venue really appeals to the masses and our students and this generation so we're excited to see an event that kind of bridges the gap socially between all students on campus and allows them to partner and work together to work as a team to compete against future colleges down the road," says Brandon Dawson, Dean of Students.
The Esports program at Elmira College will be launching for the Fall 2019 term.
