CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) – An Addison man is behind bars after police say he assaulted a Corning Police officer.

Police say on March 22 around 10:45 in the morning, a uniformed member of the Corning Police Department was on patrol on Sterling Street in the city. He says he saw 29-year-old Timothy Heck walking on a public sidewalk.

The officer says as he approached Heck, he saw Heck smoking marijuana. Heck then reportedly saw the officer and tried to destroy the drugs.

The officer said he ordered Heck to stop, but instead, Heck ran. The officer then caught Heck and says when he tried handcuffing the suspect, Heck fought, resisted and assaulted the officer until other Corning Police Officers and an New York State Trooper intervened.

  • Two counts of felony Falsifying a Business Record
  • One count of misdemeanor Criminal Possession of Marihuana
  • One count of felony Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • One count of misdemeanor Resisting Arrest
