BATH, N.Y.(WENY)-- This afternoon, The Arc of Steuben was awarded a matching grant for $16,000.00 by the New York State Industries for the Disabled. Inc. NYSID is a non-profit group that helps create jobs for those with disabilities.

"And our partner here Steuben does a number of things in screen printing and clothing that we work with them on. So we presented them with a matching grant today so they can purchase some new equipment, a new printer for screen printing for clothing," says Maureen O'Brien, President and CEO of NYSID.

Thanks to NYSID, the Arc of Steuben is going to be able to create a few more job positions after receiving today's grant.

"It is going to create an additional three working jobs for the individuals that we serve and it's going to provide opportunities for them to learn, grow, and integrate into the community businesses," says John Houck, Director of Operations of The Arc of Steuben.

The Arc's most recent screen printer is about 15 years old, so the money from the grant is going to go towards a new one. The new equipment will not only allow them to add new jobs but increase order fulfillment by 10 percent.

"The opportunity to have a job and gainful employment means a lot to the people that receive services here at the Arc of Steuben, they haven't always had those opportunities and a part of our mission vision and values. We really want to capitalize on any opportunity we can to support that," says Matt Mehlenbacher, CCO of The Arc of Steuben.

The Arc of Steuben and its employees are very excited about their new print machine and what possibilities it will bring.
