Elmira man arrested on drug possession, sale charges

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – An Elmira man is behind bars after police say he was possessing and selling heroin.
On Monday, the Elmira Police Department arrested 45-year-old James Lee on a Superior Court Warrant for three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance and three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, all in the Third Degree.
Upon his arrest, police say Lee was possessing heroin and an amount of counterfeit money. As a result, he was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.
The arrest is reportedly the result of an investigation by the Elmira Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit, the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Chemung County Sheriff's Office Criminal Division.
Additionally, in 2001, Lee was convicted for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in Elmira and is also currently on state parole.
