Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park is Looking for More Volunteer's this Season

BINGHAMTON N.Y.(WENY)-- Binghamtons Zoo at Ross park is looking to get more volunteers signed up for their upcoming season. There are numerous volunteer opportunities such as maintenance, gardening, and special event volunteers.
"It's a great way to give back to your local community. You get to work with animals or be around animals, so if you have a love for them, it's a great opportunity to also meet people that are like minded and it's become like a family of volunteers here," says Catherine Deietz, Volunteer Coordinator at the Binghamton Zoo.
You can apply to become a volunteer by filing out an application on the Zoos website. All volunteers are required to complete a background check, which is approximately $20 depending on where you live or have lived, the cost could vary. Volunteers also have to be 18 years or older to apply for the full docents program. There is a junior docent program between June and August for those between the ages of 14 and 17 years of age.
