Steady Showers Contribute to Flood Risk

Moisture associated with recent tropical system Gordon are now moving into the area today. Steady moderate to heavy showers will continue through the day for the Twin Tiers and Finger Lakes, with highs only rising into the lower 60s. Since consistent rainfall is expected with approximately 1 to 3 inches in total, flooding will be a risk through late tonight. A flash flood watch is in effect for the area due to the risk for flooding in small streams and creeks, as well as the potential for flash flooding as a result of isolated thunderstorms. Tonight that chance for showers will continue as lows drop near 60 degrees.
