BIG FLATS, N.Y. (WENY) -- A new online movement is encouraging kids to get out of their chairs and move in the classroom.

Guthrie Health has partnered with GoNoodle, who's videos and games are meant to get kids dancing, stretching and learning right by their desk.

According to the CDC, only 25% of today's youth get the recommended hour of exercise each day. Officials hope this partnership will help more students reach that goal.

"I was just in a classroom that had fourth grade students up and dancing and learning about angles--acute angles and obtuse angles," says Frederick Bloom, President of Guthrie Medical Group. "I think it's great opportunity for students to learn in a different way."

Through the partnership, over 50,000 students at 185 area elementary schools will have access to the program both at school and online.

"If you're sitting in a chair for a long time, you start to feel uncomfortable," says Zachary, a 4th grader at Big Flats Elementary. "[When] you do the GoNoodle movements, you start to feel comfortable again."

"We're using it as a movement break, also as a relaxation technique before taking assessments," says Tacy Kilmer, 4th grade teacher at Big Flats Elementary. "We also really love the content videos because they tie in with our standards we need to teach. They're a great way for students to remember the content that we're teaching."

Most importantly, students and teachers say it's just another way to make learning fun.

"I love go noodle because it lets you have a good time with your friends," says Emelia, a 4th grader at Big Flats Elementary.

Zachary says, "it's a different kind of learning."
