All Bon-Ton Stores to Close by August 31st
YORK, P.A./HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Bon-Ton Stores is officially on its way out.
A bankruptcy court has approved the sale of all 260 Bon-Ton stores and its affiliated department stores to two liquidation firms.
Corporate officials have confirmed all remaining stores will shut down by August 31st, with going out of business sales to begin immediately.
Local Bon-Ton chains can be found in the Arnot Mall in Horseheads, The Shops at Ithaca Mall in Ithaca and the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City.
In a statement sent to WENY News, the Arnot Mall says "“Preliminary details surrounding Bon Ton’s proceedings have not been fully released, therefore, we will continue to monitor the situation. Our primary focus in 2018 is to continue building upon our strong growth, redevelopment plans and creating experiential offerings, including a food/beverage and hospitality neighborhood as well as working with national retailers.”
Bon-Ton filed for bankruptcy in February.
