Police investigating death at Corning home
CORNING, NY (WENY) - Corning Police have started a death investigation after a body was found at a home on Dwight Avenue.
Police say they responded to a suspicious circumstance call around 4pm Monday. According to CPD, the death investigation was started as a result of their response.
Members of the Corning Police Department, NYS Police, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office, are continuing the investigation.
Neighbors say the neighborhood is typically quiet, and this is something they've never experienced before.
"There's rumors, I'm not going to say what I hear, but again, anytime you see anything like this, your heart sinks because it's such a beautiful neighborhood, it's such a beautiful town and this is something you see in big cities," says neighbor, Debbie Shannon. "This is not something you see here."
There's no word on the name or age of the deceased.
The investigation is still ongoing and no further information has been released.
Corning Police say more details will be released at a later time.
