ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- If you’ve ever played Clue and argued over whodunit in the library with the candlestick, get ready because the classic mystery is coming to life on stage. "Clue Live on Stage," based on the beloved board game and the 1985 cult-classic film, brings its mix of murder, mayhem, and comedy to Elmira's Clemens Center on March 18th and 19th.
Elisabeth Yancey plays Yvette, the French maid working for Mr. Boddy, a character who is being blackmailed while hosting the evening event.
"I play the French maid in body and manner, so at the beginning of the show, we find ourselves in this mysterious manor. We meet a butler, a French maid, and a cook," says Yancey. "All of these very specific characters come in, including Miss Scarlet, Mrs. Peacock, and Colonel Mustard, who don’t know why they're there. They’ve received a mysterious letter."
As the night unfolds, secrets are revealed, and chaos unravels. Yancey’s character tries to keep the evening running smoothly, which proves to be a challenge. One of her favorite moments involves her rushing onto the stage with a revolver, shouting, "Stand back!"
"Honestly, a lot of this show relies on physical comedy. There are incredible moments of physical humor throughout, whether it’s a sequence in slow motion, everyone doing the same exact movement at the same time, or the thrilling twists of a murder mystery," Yancey shared.
The show explores themes of murder and blackmail but aims to deliver plenty of laughs. Yancey notes that much of the humor comes from physical comedy, featuring slow-motion sequences and synchronized movements among the cast.
"Clue" will take the stage on March 18th and 19th at Elmira's Clemens Center. Tickets and more information about the Broadway Series can be found by clicking here.
The Clemens Center is located at 207 Clemens Center Pkwy, Elmira, NY 14901.
